Beauty Review : Nail-A-Holics
December 6, 2011I have been a fan of Nail-A-Holics since they opened in Megamall about 2 years ago. But stuff happened and I had to move to far north of Metro Manila. I have been in and out of different nail salons like Nail Treats near FEU Fairview and Let’s Face It in SM Fairview, but since the person I go to at Let’s Face It was transferred to their Greenhills branch, I opted to go back to Nail-A-Holics, this time, their branch in SM Fairview, which is right across Let’s Face It.
I had expectations, naturally. I’m an old customer and I expected that the treatments are the same. Well, they are. EXCEPT.. that they now dig into to your nails (ingrowns and all). I am a diabetic and the reason I wanted Nail-A-Holics is that when I was a customer at Megamall years back, they wouldn’t touch the sides of my nails. They’d just take off the dry parts and paint them pretty. Oh well. It was days before the pain went away. The tolerant in me did NOT complain though. Here’s a pic of my ugly hands but pretty colored nails.
Beauty Review : Maybelline BB Cream
April 25, 2011I have always been a fan of liquid foundation. As far as I can remember, liquid foundations has always been my bestfriend compared to the sometimes-disastrous sitch caused by cake foundations.
A month ago, my mom and I were shopping at a mall near my place. We stopped by Maybelline and I told her about BB creams. We asked the counter lady how much it cost, and were surprised that it was only 249php. We immediately bought ourselves a tube each.
I wasn’t able to try it when I got home (or a few days after that), since I rarely go out. Thankfully, I am blessed with good skin. I just don’t like that I am actually starting to look old (another post). Now I feel the panic and despair.
When I tried this BB cream, it delivered well. I used a small makeup sponge and wet it, put a small amount of cream and spread onto my face. I’m not so worried about putting too much as the cream was light.
So far, I am liking this product, and about to buy my second tube.
Love and Other Drugs : a personal review
February 5, 2011You might ask: what does a movie review have anything to do with this beauty blog. Well, for me, a lot. The only beauty regimen I follow religiously is getting enough “ME” time. As soon as I feel rejuvenated, then I know I have been beautified.
The other day, I was able to watch the movie Love and Other Drugs which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway. Before watching, I was thinking that this movie may be a little too predictable for my taste. My then in-depth taste. Please note that I have always been “shallow” when it comes to picking movies as I would always choose the feel-good to the bizaare and mind-boggling.
Happy New Year!
January 3, 2011Happy new year, everyone! Wishing you a prosperous 2011!!! See more of me this year
Hair issues, anyone?
December 15, 2010Ever since I hit puberty, my hair has been one of my major issues in life. Yes, my hair! You see, I have fine, limp, wavy, baby hair. Meaning, its a disaster! When I was in highschool, I used to brush and brush it until it went straighter than normal. My usual morning routine before I go to school consists of having to air-dry my hair in front of an electric fan. When I have the chance to blow-dry it, I do. Thank God they invented hair iron these days! Also, the miraculous hair rebonding. I’ve been a fan, except when I’m pregnant or breastfeeding.
I figured that with all harsh chemicals and stress I put my hair into, I should at least nourish it one way or another. I looked for the best hair vitamins I could find in local drugstores and beauty shops. I wanted a faster hair growth, so I had to consider that in my search for options. It wasn’t easy, I tell ya. It was trial and error. My poor hair had to go through phases. No kidding! There were phases! There should be a hair rehab somewhere. I’d be the first customer. LOL
Now that I’m destressing both my hair and my body, I steer clear from products except the good ones. The ones that I’ve tried and tested in the past. I usually do my hair treatments at home. I get picky when it comes to salons I go to. I don’t like stylists who knows more than I when it comes to what I want for my hair. Do you sometimes get the question, “What do we do with your hair?” Then you answer, “I want it layered here and there.” Then they say, “It’s better if you do this instead. Let’s not cut so much. Just a straight cut in the back, ok?” Wow! I get that OFTEN! And I don’t like it. I mean, you can suggest because you’re a stylist BUT I still get the final say, right?
I wanna get longer hair now. I had my stylist cut it really short 2 days before I gave birth! Yes, hormones! Although its not bad actually. I’ve been on short hair for the longest time when I was younger. I just don’t think it suits me when I’m fat. Haha.
So, what’s your hair like?
A new style for the holidays
December 6, 2010I promised to write more on ladies fashion this time. Since my mom is currently in Chicago, and it has been snowing there since last week, I wanted to get her these Military Boots, to keep her warm. I’d also want one for myself but I haven’t got a nice outfit to go with it. I think its time to shop! Yay!
Look at these divine boots!
I’m super loving them now! Very chic, yet not super feminine. Versatile too!
I was browsing through different fashion styles for an upcoming holiday event, where I can use the same military boots. Then I saw Cher Lloyd’s Style! I saw her one time on X-factor on Youtube. I’d say she has an unorthodox fashion style. But I’m loving it too! Look :
Now, I gotta go and find myself a really nice outfit and a salon that would get me that BIG hair she’s got!
Body Shop Vit C Energizing Face Spritz
December 3, 2010I work nights so I need to be refreshed after work(methinks). I normally still do chores after anyway. Last year, I went crazy at The Body Shop in SM Megamall and bought myself The Body Shop Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz. This is actually just a short review on what it has done for me. The smell is citrusy and would easily awaken even when you feel tired and stressed out. Its a definite must when you still have kids (like me) to attend to after work.
I was sold on what the attendant at Body Shop told me. That it has Vitamin C, which I know for a fact, is good for the skin. And as per The Body Shop website, it helps encourage production of collagen, improves elasticity and helps against environmental aggressors. It also has moisturizing vitamin B-5. Not bad, not bad at all.

Painkillers : SOMA
November 28, 2010Since I recently talked about painkillers and surgery, I would do so again on this post. As I was researching about Tramadol, I also came about this other painkiller, soma. I don’t know much about it so again, I looked it up and here’s what came up :
What is Soma?
Soma is a muscle relaxer that works by blocking pain sensations between the nerves and the brain.
Soma is used together with rest and physical therapy to treat injuries and other painful musculoskeletal conditions.
Soma may also be used for other purposes not listed in this medication guide.
Important information about Soma
This medication may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Soma should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. You may have withdrawal symptoms when you stop using Soma after using it over a long period of time. Do not stop using Soma suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely. Soma can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. Be careful if you drive or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Avoid drinking alcohol. It can increase drowsiness and dizziness caused by Soma.
Before taking Soma
Do not use Soma if you are allergic to carisoprodol or meprobamate (Equanil, Miltown), or if you have porphyria.
Before using Soma, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have:
epilepsy or other seizure disorder;
liver disease; or
kidney disease.
If you have any of these conditions, you may need a dose adjustment or special tests to safely take Soma.
Soma may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Soma should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. You may have withdrawal symptoms when you stop using Soma after using it over a long period of time. Withdrawal symptoms include stomach pain, sleep problems, headache, nausea, and seizure (convulsions). Do not stop using Soma suddenly without first talking to your doctor. You may need to use less and less before you stop the medication completely. Soma may be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether Soma passes into breast milk or if it could harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Do not give this medication to a child younger than 12 years old..
Anyway, should I have another surgery, I will definitely not forget about this drug soma. Soma will definitely be one of my considerations.
Pandora beads
November 25, 2010A few years ago, I was into making semi precious jewelries (like pandora beads) and selling them online and to friends. Now, as I was going about my friends’ pages on Facebook, I saw one who was into the same thing. Now, that I’ve recently given birth, I’m thinking of doing this business again. As I was looking for materials and suppliers, I chanced upon these beautiful pandora beads.
I love how these beads can work as a formal or casual accessory! These can definitely go with my denims and with that little black dress.
I used to get my materials from local suppliers but since we moved out of my mom’s house, it’s now a 2-3hour commute going to the supplier. And no, they don’t have an online shop like the ones featured in this blog. I’ve actually made designs for these pandora beads, so I need to get some soon.
And come this Christmas, this would be a good gift idea too! Well, for me, I know my aunts and girlfriends would love to have something like this hanging on their wrists or neck this season.
If you happen to love these like I do, check them out at :

Black Friday affair
November 24, 2010Since I am from the Philippines, Black Friday only rings a bell during well, Holy Week. Not until my mom went to the U.S. a couple of months ago and will be spending Thanksgiving in the Windy City. Now I so want to go to where she is! Imagine, malls opening at 3AM?! People falling in line the night before?! That must mean one thing! A SALE… A big one, at that! Oooohhh…
Here’s a definition by good ole Wiki :
Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On this day many U.S. retailers open very early, often at 5 a.m. or even earlier, and offer promotional sales to kick off the shopping season. Because Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday in November in the United States, the day after occurs between the 23rd and the 29th of November.
The day’s name originated in Philadelphia, where it originally was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. Use of the term began by 1966 and began to see broader use outside Philadelphia around 1975. Later an alternative explanation began to be offered: that “Black Friday” indicates the period during which retailers are turning a profit, or “in the black.”
I wish I’d win that lottery so I can buy myself a whole bunch of goodies
Okay, okay, I should seriously stop getting excited. LOL
Back to regular programming
I have just given birth almost a month ago and it has been a rollercoaster ride-of-a-pregnancy for me. Hormones here and there! Hopefully by this time I will be able to blog more regularly here. Expect more, expect less
See you soon!

Another post on online casino games
August 15, 2010The hubby has been addicted to online casino games like Poker, Mahjong and others. That sometimes, although I hate to admit it, I do get bothered. So one time, I tried to play myself. Lo and behold, I too, got addicted. LOL.
This is not the first time that I have played casino games. Being in a country like the Philippines, these games are what makes most of our idle afternoons. Especially in the rural areas like the provinces, where most are done with their agricultural work after lunch time.
As for online casino games, I would definitely try one of these days.
When I was going through some casino websites, I found that there are HUNDREDS of online casino games. Thousands of softwares that one can actually download for an amount or web-based applications where you can pay per game. I would probably think about which to try and maybe check out some forums so I can get others’ points of view.
A conservative country like the Philippines often sees casino games as more destructive in terms of family life (which is by the way, important, to a country like ours) but we have PAGCOR who is a government company that is in charge of all legal casino games. A very popular game is the LOTTO. This is a game of the masses and at 20pesos, that is very accessible to all.
A casino game is very addicting but it actually really depends on the person if you know how to control yourself, you won’t have a problem.
Dealing with SEO
May 22, 2010Marketing has been one of the challenges for me especially for my own blogs and for work. Some clients ask me if I know SEO and all I can say is, that I know the basics. In the past, I’ve had tasks that I know were SEO related but I haven’t really delved into this subject. I tried to start reading SEO books to help me understand, but when I encounter technical words, I tend to just shut my brain. Its one of the things that my brain just refuses to absorb. You know the feeling when you think you’re over-informed on other things and you’d just want to take a brain break? Well, that’s exactly how I feel.
So one of the things I’m considering is getting an SEO person or SEO company to help me build my blog and my business. I wonder how this would go but I’m definitely hopeful of the results. Wish me luck!

Finding the right bed
May 12, 2010Due to my lack of sleep nowadays, I’m on the search for a good bed that may change the way I see sleep. I was surfing the net (as usual) and saw this website http://www.homeandliving.com/ and saw their wide array of bed fixtures and furnitures. One of the things that caught my attention was their bed frames. Check out this bed frame with glides. I am loving this design and I think that it would fit our queen size bed. Here are some of the really cool features :
Now, who can resist that? But they have more to offer! Yup! They offer FREE SHIPPING and NO SALES TAX! Woot! Hurray for shops like these!!!
Roulette in Casinos
April 21, 2010Since I have been writing about casinos and gambling recently, roulettes play a big role in them. According to Wikipedia.org :
Roulette is a casino game named after a French diminutive for “little wheel”. In the game, players may choose to place bets on either a single number or a range of numbers, the colors red or black, or whether the number is odd or even. To determine the winning number and color, a croupier spins a wheel in one direction, then spins a ball in the opposite direction around a tilted circular track running around the circumference of the wheel. The ball eventually loses momentum and falls on to the wheel and into one of 37 (in French/European roulette) or 38 (in American roulette) colored and numbered pockets on the wheel.[1]
Don’t you wonder about those black and red wheels you see inside casinos. I haven’t played that game but am willing to.
Is gambling good or bad?
I am not such a fan of gambling but I found that some people actually earn a living from it. Ever since I was a kid, I was always fascinated of places such as casinos but it never really occured to me that people lose and earn a lot of money from these places.
Just a thought.
So, what slot games do you play?
Massage anyone?
Just last Saturday, somebody left a flyer for home service massages. I am sooo tempted to have one since my back has been aching BUT since I wasn’t sure they do pregnant massages, I decided to pass. So what I did was, I went to a local beauty store and tried to find some massage oils that I have been wanting to buy for some time now. I’d rather have the hubby do my back masages. At least he knows how gentle he should be. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to buy peach flavored massage oil. It smelled so yummy and since I’m on my first tri, my nose is kinda sensitive these days.
I’ll let you know the verdict soon! ;P
Casinos: Vegas Style
Have you ever been in a Casino? I have inside one about 3 years ago. I would like to go back just for the fun of it, but the hubby doesn’t want to. I only played games that even kids could do. I don’t roll high since stakes are obviously high too. And since I only went for fun, I’m sooo itching to go back again. What do you think?
